Bibliography Guide

Sourced from pixabay

Ah, the reference page. I see your tears and understand your pain. It looks daunting, but really, it isn't. Follow these instructions and you'll be fine.

For citing from books:

Last name of author, then the initials only of the author's first name. (Year of publication in parentheses). Title of book comes next and is italicized. Capitalize first word of the book only no matter how strange that feels to you. Where was it printed? Who printed it?

That's it.

Here is a sample from a book titled A Man Called Norman, written by Mike Adkins:

Adkins, M. (1989). A man called norman. Pomona, CA: Focus on the Family Publishing

For citing from websites:

Author of article (Date of publication). Title of webpage. Retrieved from [give web address].

Sample:

Jennings, K. (2016). How Louisiana's Lake Peigneur Became 200 Feet Deep in an Instant. Retrieved from https://www.cntraveler.com/stories/2016-07-11/how-louisianas-lake-peigneur-became-200-feet-deep-in-an-instant

(Oddly, the title of a webpage article follows the expected capitalization rules.)

Citing from magazines:

Author's name. (Year). Title of article. Title of Periodical, plus volume number, page numbers.

Sample:

Nolt, S. (2020). The Fellowship of the Beloved. Daughters of Promise, Issue 30, 10-13.

Please note: I do want accuracy. But if I can tell that you are doing your best to give me all of the required information and it is listed in the correct order, I will not dock points if you miss a period or forget to italicize something. But you will get points docked if your bibliography is slopped together or if you are missing pertinent information.
